April is bursting with creativity at Arkansas Arts Academy! Check out all the upcoming opportunities to support and celebrate our fantastic student artists, performers, and scholars.

April Highlights:

April 8 – Board Meeting

Open to all—join us for important updates and community discussion.

April 9- Elementary Class Pictures and Kinder Cap and Gown Pictures

April 10 – Dance Placement Class – 4:30 PM
Open to 6th-grade students who wish to enroll in upper-level dance next year.

Registration begins at 4:15 PM.

Date: Thursday, April 10, 2025

Time: 5:15 pm Registration, 5:30 - 6:15 pm Audition

Location: AAA HS Dance Studio - D130

Attire: Female Dance Attire if you have: Leotard and Leggings or

          Female Athletic Attire: Workout top and leggings

          Male: Solid color T-shirt, athletic pants, or dance pants

Shoes: Everyone (if you have): Ballet and Jazz Shoes, if you do not have ballet or jazz shoes, wear a solid color pair of socks.

9-12 grade Students participating in High School Musical Theatre Programs are invited to register for this workshop. There is no cost! 

Vocal Workshop

WHEN: Wednesday, April 9, 5-6pm

WHERE: Walton Arts Center - McBride Studio

WHAT: Students are to bring a 32-bar audition cut of a song to perform and work with a Broadway Professional. Please bring sheet music in the correct key for the accompanist provided. The song can be from your High School Musical or a Musical Theatre song of your choice. The University of Arkansas School of Art is hosting a week-long overnight Summer Arts Workshop for rising high school students in grades 10-12. Students will be able to select a preferred area of interest in studio art, art history or education and take afternoon course sessions taught by School of Art faculty who are also working artists, designers, and scholars. Throughout the week they will meet with current students, different offices on campus, learning about applying to colleges, scholarship options, and a career in the arts. Students will also visit various organizations from the Northwest Arkansas area, including e field trips to Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, The Momentary, and other art galleries. Dates of the camp will be from Saturday, June 14 through Saturday, June 21. The camp is free for students as well—including all meals, lodging, transportation to sites and events, and materials for their afternoon courses. Reminders

From our Nursing Staff:

We have had several teachers reach out with concerns that more students were bringing energy drinks to school. Our wellness policy in our student handbook (pg. 70) states students are not allowed to bring energy drinks to school. I also wanted to share some information about how energy drinks affect our children. Children have smaller bodies, developing brains, and decreased impulse control. This means the side effects of energy drinks have a greater impact on kids. Here are some of those side effects: difficulty sleeping, more irritable, abnormal heart beats, diarrhea, feeling jittery, seizures, increased heart rate, high blood pressure, rapid breathing, dehydration, anxiety and panic attacks. Most studies have shown that caffeine does not improve ADHD symptoms for students, but in some cases can worsen symptoms of impulsivity and inattention.

Thank you for not allowing your students to bring energy drinks to school.
