The Importance of Reading Every Day

Reading every day is one of the most powerful habits students can develop for lifelong success. It strengthens vocabulary, enhances comprehension, and fosters critical thinking skills. Whether it's a novel, an article, or a textbook, daily reading helps improve focus and builds knowledge that goes beyond the classroom. For parents, encouraging reading at home can spark curiosity and open up opportunities for meaningful conversations. Setting aside even 15-20 minutes a day can make a huge difference in a student's academic growth and overall development!

10-12 Grade ACT WorkKeys

All students in grades 10-12 have the opportunity to take the ACT WorkKeys Assessment before they graduate. The assessment measures essential work skills needed for success in jobs across industries and occupations and represents work readiness through the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC). The purpose of the NCRC is to provide students with a workplace certification that demonstrates their preparedness for the workforce, and measures their knowledge and skills in Applied Math, Graphic Literacy, and Workplace Documents. There are four certified NCRC levels: Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

• Platinum - indicates the skills required for 99% of ACT-profiled jobs
• Gold - indicates the skills required for 93% of ACT-profiled jobs
• Silver - indicates the skills required for 69% of ACT-profiled jobs
• Bronze - indicates the skills required for 17% of ACT-profiled jobs

The benefits of earning the NCRC include:

•  The NCRC is a portable credential with no expiration date that verifies work readiness.
•  Students may be job-ready upon graduation from high school.
•  Many employers across Arkansas use the NCRC as a pre-employment tool.
•  Students may be offered higher-paying positions because they have earned the NCRC.

Arkansas Arts Academy will offer the three WorkKeys assessments on the High School campus in the afternoons of October 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.  Please complete the form to sign up your student for the ACT WorkKeys assessment. Students will only be signed up if the form is completed by September 20th. The cost of this assessment is paid for by the state of Arkansas, and there is no cost to families for the first administration.

Support Arkansas Arts Academy: Sponsorship Opportunities for the 2024/25 School Year

We are excited to provide an opportunity for you to support Arkansas Arts Academy's arts programs as we continue to nurture our student's artistic skills and creative spirit. Our commitment to fostering excellence in the arts is unwavering, as a strong arts education enriches the lives of our students and contributes to their personal growth and development. This sponsorship initiative allows us to partner with parents and sponsors in a meaningful way to enhance our student’s experiences.

Sponsorship Options:

  1. Overall Arts Programming
Your generous donation will support various arts disciplines, including visual arts, music, dance, theater, and more. These funds will enhance our facilities, provide essential equipment and materials, and offer students opportunities to engage with guest artists and performers.

  2. Arts Department Sponsorship
If you have a particular interest in a specific area of arts concentration—such as visual arts, music, dance, theater, or any other discipline—you can donate to that area. This targeted support will enable us to develop and expand these departments, providing our students with specialized training, resources, and experiences.

  3. Support for Other School Needs
In addition to arts-related sponsorships, you can contribute to other vital school needs. These opportunities will be updated throughout the year. You can sponsor projects like EMS Playground Equipment, Artful Learning, or School Garden. Your support in these areas will help improve the overall educational environment and provide students with a well-rounded experience.

Recognition and Appreciation:
In appreciation of your support, we are pleased to inform you that the names of all sponsors and businesses will be prominently listed in programs for all arts events throughout the academic year. For contributions of $600 or more, your name or business will be prominently displayed on our TV monitors within the school premises as a tribute to your commitment to fostering creativity and artistic excellence among our students. We understand that everyone's financial situation is unique, and we genuinely appreciate any support you can offer.

How to Contribute:
To participate in this sponsorship initiative, please visit our website at artsk12.org, and submit your payments via https://osp.osmsinc.com/Artsk12/. Your donation is tax-deductible, and we will provide you with a receipt for your records.

You can choose between a one-time payment or a monthly contribution and specify the area where you'd like your funds to be allocated. Whether you support the overall arts programming, a specific department, or other school needs, your generosity will have a lasting impact on the quality of education we provide at Arkansas Arts Academy.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to support Arkansas Arts Academy as we continue to educate and encourage children through the arts. Together, we can ensure our students continue to thrive and excel in their artistic and academic endeavors.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND FAMILIES Due to the ongoing construction on Poplar St. Arkansas Arts Academy High School is having to change our afternoon dismissal procedures. Note: Morning arrival procedures and access to the parking lot during the day will stay the same. Please see the attached photo for details regarding afternoon dismissal changes. Individuals driving to pick up students will enter the Arkansas Arts Academy parking lot through the first entrance off of 6th street. Please note all entrances marked with a yellow X on the map will be closed. Cars should follow the flow of traffic that naturally wraps around the back side of the building and exits off of 5th street. If you arrive early to wait in line, please pull all the way up to the blue line indicated on the map to wait for students so that others can pull up behind you. We are trying to keep 6th street as clear as possible while safely keeping students away from the construction on Poplar Street. If you have any questions, please contact the high school for more information. Thank you.
